Into the Stillness Series

Introducing this new yoga approach for people who have stiffened up and want to become far more flexible with a wide range of movement in their limbs and hips.

The Inner Journey with Yin Yoga – an introduction to a gentle flowing practice to refresh and revive your body

Who should attend: Anyone who finds the title appealing!

  • If you would like to get back your old suppleness and ease in your body after neglecting this for years but are not sure how to go about this.
  • If you find a full yoga session hard but kind of like the idea of doing yoga intuitively or
  • If you are over 45 years old and want to keep your body in shape and loose as you grow older in a safe way.

A half day workshop designed to help people understand what their bodies need to become supple and at ease again.  Participants will learn the principles of Yin Yoga and how to incorporate it into their existing yoga practice or develop a flow of Yin asanas to do at home which will bring life back to their joints and fluidity to their body.  Yin Yoga is safe, very gentle and deeply refreshing.  It takes you to an inner place of ease, peace, stillness and silence and is like meditating as you move.  Your heart calms down, your breath become steady and you can hear your body and soul talk to you.  There is never any pain or strain in Yin Yoga.

Come with a yoga mat (don’t worry if you don’t have one of these – just bring another rug instead), a light rug to cover yourself with for relaxation and a couple of pillows (or yoga bolsters if you are a regular yogi).  Dress very comfortably in loose, light elasticated or stretchy trousers and a light, loose top or yoga clothes if you have them.  The important point is to be totally comfortable; not to have the latest ‘kit’.

Expanding your teaching – Yin Yoga for Yoga Teachers

Who should attend:  Yoga teachers who would like to update themselves on this new approach to Yoga practice.

This approach is particularly suitable for people over forty who are well but want to make sure they keep their bodies loose and supple.  It also works wonderfully for people over fifty and sixty who have stiffened up a lot and need to bring fluidity back into their joints before they can build strength in their core or large muscles groups.  For students in your classes knowledge of how to balance their yoga practice with both Yin and Yang asanas as they get older is invaluable.  It will expand your practice and help you give more support to some of your classes.  It can also easily be incorporated into beginner classes.  This is yoga for the inner journey and works very well with any meditation you might do in your classes.  It is a Yin journey so it flows like a river rather than the Yang journey of climbing mountains.  Both wonderful but maybe we all live a bit too much in the Yang style – this gives a great alternative and balance.
